Hair Styles
I spent two years growing my hair to donate it. I had to give up a lot to be able to give my hair to make wigs for children. I could not play around with different hair styles. I had to leave my hair completely natural. No hair coloring, hair straightening or perms. I would have my cut every eight week to insure that it was healthy without any split ends. It looked healthy but I was somewhat limited on the hair styles I could do. It was loose or in a pony tail. My hair had to be at least 10 inches to be useful. I was able to grow it 12 inches by the end of the two years.
I really liked the idea that my hair was going to be so useful and make a difference. However I did not realize how short my hair would be after donating it. It was so short I had no hair style options. It took almost a year before I could start thinking about trying different hair styles again. I decided to have a somewhat short layered hair cut that will let me shape it as it grows. It was a wonderful experience giving my hair, but I am enjoying being able to wear the hair styles I prefer again.
