I let it pass and then it started vibrating again. Getting out of the shower I answered and it was her wondering where I was. I thought reservations weren’t for another 30 minutes. She assured me I was wrong as the server had already called our name. Luckily, it was close down the street. I flipped the shower off, sprayed on fragrance cosmetics, did the best I could with my hairstyle in fifteen seconds, got dressed and ran out the front door. Five minutes later, I was pulling up at the restaurant.

She had already sat down when I came in. Walking by her to get to my seat, she blurted out, “Come back here.” What? She wanted to see the back of my head, did and started laughing. I’d forgotten to get all the shampoo out and now there were bubbles left behind. I played it off as a new hairstyle and me being late was brushed under the table as we both laughed.
