Don't let a trip out of town distract from the daily routine of hair care. I have learned the hard way after spending long weekends at the Dunes in the dust and sand. I usually brush my hair at night before retiring for the evening. I failed to do so one time and let me tell you it took only one time, my hair was a knotted mess the following morning. I will never to do that again! With long locks my hair care absolutely includes brushing it out at night before going to bed!

When we are traveling I always wash and condition my hair before we even leave town. I bring all my hair care products with me in small containers for convenience. When at home I wash my hair every other day and really try to keep up with that when traveling. I spend a lot of time outdoors when on vacations out of town so my hair takes a beating. I will more times than not tie it back into a pony tail to keep it out of the way. 

Hair care while traveling need not be an overwhelming task. I know from experience though that with kids it can be! Especially when my eight year daughter had long hair too. She just didn't like the brushing out process. Finally, there was an ultimatum, brush it or cut it! We got some detangler that she could spray on herself. As a big girl she began to do her own hair care. She really wanted to keep the long hair!
